Working Together with Roehr Tool

Roehr often hears from mold builders who have experience working with Collapsible Cores and Expandable Cavities, and they want to further use these approaches as a unique solution to offer their customers.  Because of this, Roehr recently announced a program that creates Application Partners as a means of structured collaboration.

“Mold builders are on the front lines in providing answers to their molder/OEM customers,” said
Jim Cullison, vice president of Roehr.  “If they are championing the use of our products, we don’t want them to go it alone, and instead want to do what we can to assist the cause.”

Roehr Application Partners are being trained with the specific advantages of Roehr technologies, providing customers with mold quotations showing both Roehr products
and traditional technology like slides or rack and gear for comparison. In return, Roehr provides marketing and sales support/training, technical application design reviews, tech support and more.

Contact us if we can assist you in the dialog with the mold’s end user. This can be achieved with in-person sales calls, telecons, or Webex demonstrations. Drop us a line at information@roehrtool.com to begin a discussion on collaborative presentations.

Michael Montagna and Bryan Hull at Mier Tool Company recently described a project in which
they successfully reduced mold building costs – and simplified the mold design – by utilizing Expandable Cavities from Roehr.

“Taking into consideration the costs involved
with all the tool work required for slide sets, we suggested utilizing expandable cavities, which would not only eliminate the slides but also the manufacture of heel pockets and other associated components,” Montagna says. “The mold features needed to accommodate the expandable cavities were much simpler to machine in the mold core insert and the pin plates.”

The result, which is pictured here, was a
highly successful mold build that met the customer’s requirements.

Case studies are available for Collapsible Cores and Expand-able Cavities.  We’ve ‘Done the Math’ on some real world examples and the savings are dramatic.

In a recent C-Core example, for an 8-cavity nylon fitting an estimated $32,000 was saved in the first year.

Another C-Core application for a 16-cavity closure mold was able to yield a savings of more than $30,000 per year through reduced cycle time, lower maintenance and improved part quality.

Expandable Cavities also are able to stand the test of the spreadsheet. A 16-cavity mold built with Ex-Cavs instead of conventional slides can save over $15,000 per year through use of a smaller mold base and reduced press size.
